CodeDay is NOT a place to learn to code. It does not matter if students can code after they leave CodeDay.

Most CodeDay participants don’t even want to learn to code.

If you’re volunteering for CodeDay, you probably like coding, but there are also subjects you don’t like, such as writing, world history, or cooking.

What if you attended a workshop that taught you some new skills in writing? Would you suddenly like writing? Almost certainly not!

How you feel about writing (or world history, or cooking) is how many people who attend CodeDay feel about coding.

You help students fall in love with coding.

The goal of CodeDay is to:

  1. Attract creative students, and
  2. Get them so excited about how creative code can be, that they keep learning on their own.
