CodeDay Labs already serves a large share of underrepresented minorities in tech. We can leverage that more by creating “Communities”, similar to company ERGs (employee resource groups). They will be identity-based and open to anyone who identifies as such or any allies of the community.
The hope is for social and career-oriented events to occur throughout the internship alongside the tech talks as a sort of supplement. We can bring in people from said communities to speak about their experiences and learnings about being said identity in tech. We can also set up times for people to connect and meet others in their communities so they can foster and leverage those connections beyond the program.
