We help these students get real-world opportunities by pairing them with an industry mentor to work on a real-world, open-source Computer Science project.

About The Role

As a mentor, you will lead a group of 3 beginner students, helping them build a project based on your experience and expertise, in 5 weeks. You propose the project, and lead the students through design, implementation, test, completion, and presentation of the project.

Requirements

• Previous experience as an intern at a technology company or college student with experience working on large-scale projects
• Experience building a project from scratch or working on an existing open source project
• A desire to help more students pursue their dreams in technology

What You'll Do

• Work with us to scope a beginner-friendly project
• Hold a team meeting 2 times a week during the 5 mentored weeks of CodeDay Labs
• Fill out a performance review for your mentees once a week
• Hold three one-on-one meetings with each of your mentees to talk about their career aspirations and share your experience in technology
• A little extra help may be needed at first since your students are beginners, no more than 1-2 hours a week. We have people to help with day-to-day debugging.

Compensation

You'll be paid as a contractor, $500 per team you mentor. (Or you can volunteer if you'd like to help us admit more students.)
