Format Overview (WITHOUT company-provided stipend)
- Professional summer Internship at a "Host" company.
- Mentors working at the host company will lead groups of 2 to 3 students and mentors will pitch ideas for new, opensource projects that will still benefit the company in some regards, but have not been worked on at the host company before (to avoid legal concerns if host company cannot provide stipend).
- Over 6 weeks in summer, mentors advise students while students develop a workable and deliverable product by the end of the program.
- At the end of the program, a competition/presentation of work done throughout the program will be carried out, with high-position employees at the host company as judges.
- Each group will present and try to "sell" their project and work done. The top three teams (up to the company) will have the choice of either a special prize (funded by host company or outside funding) OR a year-long paid internship at the host company
